The TV which was received was not the one pictured in the Amazon ad nor

described in the description. The TV received had speakers underneath and not on the sides. The ad noted that the TV had frame by frame capability which the one received did not. Discount Jungle offered a $20 refund or to take it back at my expense (over $50) I seem to be stuck with it.

5 Stars Initial tv’s getting a bad rap
My wife and I own a 23″ Initial LCD HDTV w/built in DVD player for our bedroom. We really enjoy it. The picture is clear, and I’ve never had any poblems with the DVD player. The one problem I had, however, is with the remote. I was told that the remote codes would never be compatible with US codes for some reason, and I took that for granted. One day, out of curiosity, I googled Initial TV remote codes. I found on Universal Remotes website a query engine, and I put in Initial. The results displayed “1990.” I punched it in and voila! We now only have one remote in the bedroom. So try that code if you own Initial, it will work.

Back to the TV. My friend owns an electronics store in town, and he’s had this 26″ tv on display and playing for two years. It has always been rock solid and the picture is bright and clear. I use CC and what I like is you can remove the black from the captioning and view the CC with white letters only. I like the clean design and the speakers sound nice. I’m hard of hearing but I can hear the treble just fine. And it sounds good for bedroom use listening to DVD’s or concerts at a lower volume.

Before you judge this brand please go somewhere where you can see it. I like the Initial brand and wish I got this one instead of the 37″ Olevia we got. By the way, another weird thing: for some reason, because of the shape of the screen on Initial tv’s, their pictures seem much larger than they actually are. I don’t know what the difference is, but they look larger and the color and resolution are great.

We have the 23″ version of the tv/dvd combo…and love it. The only issue we’ve found is not being able to program our cable tv remote to this tv…not compatible. We have to use 2 remotes (one to change channels and one for on/off and volume). Other than that, we are thrilled with our purchase. We’ve had the tv for 2 years now without a hitch.

3 Stars Poor sound, but good quality video.
I just purchased this tv/dvd player for the bedroom. The set allows me to program it to DirectV’s remote (wonderful!), it has a full compliment of picture settings for my preferred viewing, (no red people) and the manual is easy to understand.

However, the sound is very poor. I have it up as far as it will adjust to and it still can’t be heard well from more than 6 feet. I may have to return it to the store. However, this seems to be a problem with most small LCD TV’s.

I haven’t tried a DVD yet, but expect the sound to be even more of a problem because most DVD’s have to be amplified even higher than the TV sounds.

I had purchased a 22″ Curtis with a DVD player and it was a mess. I could not ajust the color or the tint, the manual only told the steps in the menus, but not what each was for and the picture quality was only fair. I could not program it to the DirectV remote at all. Their customer service said it was not possible. However, the sound was great! I guess you can’t have it all.

5 Stars Wow! (from one not easily ‘wowed’)
Bought this unit for our RV for over air HDTV and DVD/DivX, Netflix downloaded Movies. We have it ceiling mounted so it takes up no valuable counter space. Firstly, it arrived 2 weeks earlier than promised (supposed to be released May 1, arrived April 14th), so that was great!

Fired it up, attached it to our RCA, powered, rabbit ears antenna and it picked up 31 Digital or HD channels (we live in the East Bay, between San Francisco and San Jose)some as far away as Sacramento. I’d only been getting 12 channels, using the same antenna set up, on my HP PC with a Hauppage tv tuner.

So far, so good, but it was the picture quality that blew us away!! Now, we have a 42″, 1080p Panasonic Plasma with BluRay at home, so are used to high quality, crisp images. This little tv’s picture quality is superior to the 42″ plasma and the color is ‘true’. We’ve had it hooked up and running for 4 days now, and each evening there are a several bursts of “Wow, can you believe how sharp this picture is?” and “I am so impressed with the picture quality of this little tv!”

Can’t speak to the sound quality, as we immediately hooked it up to a small sound system, but it plays DVD’s and downloaded Netflix movies like a champ. Channel changing is not sloth like as in the previous model we tried.

We purchased a 19inch Toshiba TV/DVD combo a year ago and returned it because we were not happy with the picture quality or the sluggish response when changing channels – it also cost around $700! We went back to watching TV and Movies on the PC, but decided to try again with this 22inch model. We are absolutely thrilled with the purchase and for almost half of what we paid for a lesser unit last year.

5 Stars There’s a new favorite TV in our house
Setup was so easy I didn’t bother cracking the manual. Picture is great and channel-changing is much faster than on a similar Sharp I got 2 years ago for twice the price.

I’ve had this tv for about a month now and am very pleased with it’s performance. The picture is much higher quality and the sound is great. I was working with a specific space size and this one fit the bill. It was and is a great choice.

5 Stars USED but just as good as new
I bought this TV used with “minor damage on housing” for $248. It was a HELLUVA deal. The minor damage on housing was a small tiny cosmetic scratch on the stand. Who cares about the stand. The TV came sooner than expected and I didnt have to pay for sales tax or shipping. The TV itself works very well, has good picture, and sounds is great. I dont know what people are complaining about regarding the sound. Samsung’s make the best TV. I have had a 51 inch SAmsung DLP for 5years it looks and works great. IM a fan of brand consistency. I work in finance, so i have this TV in my work office and keep it on CNBC all day. No HDMI just air feed. it works perfectly for a office tv.

4 Stars Very Good but not Perfect
Overall, I liked this TV, it works fine and I like the styling and color. The only things that I thought needed to be changed are the long time it seems to take to come on after you hit the on button and the strange sound that it makes when you turn it on and off. Also I don’t know why they made it with a black electric cord when the rest of it is white. It is a very good TV and I am happy with it overall.

I recently purchased this TV for my kitchen after returning a 15″ TruTech that I purchased from Target. Although the picture on the TruTech was so-so, the sound was definitely tinney. I’m so glad I returned it and purchased this Toshiba. The sound quality is so much better with nice, rich tones, the picture is excellent, and the casing is very pretty. I bought the white one to match my kitchen appliances. Set-up was easy, and it has an owner’s manual.

I purchased this tv for my daughters room. It is difficult to find a TV in a white cabinet. I was ecstatic when I saw that Toshiba had just what she wanted as we have several TOSHIBA products in our home and have always been completely satisfied. The quality, picture and overall appearance of the tv along with DVD capability is fantastic. We love it.

4 Stars Good small TV BUT DON’T PLAN ON MOUNTING IT
I was in the market for a small HDTV to replace the 9 inch CRT set we had hanging from under a kitchen cabinet. This set had reviews that were the best I could find, white color and 15 inch screen all worked with a bonus of a DVD/CD player. The price was right. Set arrived with the usual promptness comon to Amazon. Very easy set up and we were off with digital and analog chanel reception. Sound, to my ears that qualify for hearing aids, was good and the picture and options very good for a small set. Now I was ready to take down the old TV and install the new $89 mount that can’t be returned. My wife said if it does not hang under she does not want it. Then came the Shocker….THE TV DOES NOT HAVE MOUNTING HOLES IN THE BACK. NOWHERE IN THE SPECKS DID IT SAY THAT. Not sure what to do, but will have to work out something, might be a job for Duck Tape or double sided tape. Just wanted you to know.

4 Stars Off/On light is distracting
I wanted a small white digital tv for my kitchen. Samsung sells a 19″ white but it’s too large. This Toshiba fits perfectly under the cabinets. Picture is quite impressive, and sound is better than I expected. I haven’t tried the DVD player yet. I really did not need it, but you have no choice. Quality appears to be above average. There is, it seems, a substantial picture delay when starting it up, or changing channels. While this is great little tv, my major complaint is the outrageously bright on/off light on the front of the tv. This is so bright that it is distracting. Toshiba, what on earth were you thinking about? It’s so bright that you could use it to land aircraft! The Vizio light is also stupid, but at least it’s not near as bright. Does anyone know how to dim or shut this thing off? (Tried 4 layers of white bandage tape over it but it still could be used to read a book at night).
